RM Club activities
Annual Rally
Annual Rallies are managed alternately by the Northern and Southern area secretaries (Sue Bartram, Club contacts), and have recently taken place at Warwick School, Fakenham Racecourse in Norfolk, Windermere School in Cumbria and Market Rasen Racecourse in Lincolnshire.
These National Rallies are weekend events, usually featuring a static display of around 100 RMs, with accompanying Spares and Regalia sales, workshops, refreshments and gala dinner; they’re a chance for all Club members to get together to celebrate the social side of the Club as well as the cars.
Area weekends
In addition to the National Rally, a number of weekend events are held around the country, the largest being the Welsh and the Pennine Weekends. All members are welcome to attend these; based around a hotel, they usually involve scenic (and sometimes challenging!) drives through the locality, and visits to places of interest. However, they also offer attendees plenty of time for relaxing and enjoying the company of fellow Riley enthusisasts, often with heads gathered under bonnets as cars are compared, problems solved, experiences swapped.
Shows and events
The Riley RM Club has a long history of attendance at Classic Car Shows and other events – such as the Prescott Hill Climb – the length and breadth of the country, and its themed stands have often won awards.
These shows provide an invaluable chance for the Club to demonstrate both the desirability of the cars and the advantages of Club membership to the wider classic car community; they are staffed by Club volunteers who are able to provide a combination of expertise and enthusiasm, together with a warm welcome.
Monthly Area meetings
Each month, there are around 40 RM Club area meetings (sometimes in association with other Riley clubs) across the UK; all members are cordially invited to attend these, where they can meet fellow Riley enthusiasts and join in the area’s other social activities.
Members planning to attend for the first time are advised to contact the appropriate Area Secretary or meeting contact for full details to ensure there have been no last minute changes.
